ALMOND – HIS POSITIVE ATTITUDE & CHOICE…..AA, The talking wall

This is a story about positivity. No matter, how low you may feel the choice to be positive remains with you and only you. We may think that others make us feel bad but in reality, it’s us who chooses to feel bad.

There was a man, who saw and lived life only through his choices. His name was Almond. He was the kind of a guy everyone loved to hate. He remained cool and calm, happy and in good mood at all times. Whenever someone asked anything, his rely was always filled with positive thoughts and suggestions. When someone asked him about how he is feeling today, do you know what his reply would be. He would say, “If I were any better, I would be twins!”

Such happy character Almond was.

Almond was unique in many ways but the most important character, his positivity made others feel positive as well. Almond worked in the Sales Department as a Sales Manager. All the companies he worked in and left people would leave their respective jobs to follow him around from company to company. The only reason people followed Almond was his attitude, his attitude towards life which got reflected in his work as well. He was a natural motivator. When someone in his team had an off (bad) day, Almond rushed to make him see the brighter picture, the positive side of the negative event. This in itself is very difficult but when you learn the effect of positive choices, you get transform into the ball of positivity, which when rolled, spreads positivity across all directions.

One day one of Almond’s new employee, Gerard, approached him in his cabin while he was reading a book. “I don’t get it!” Gerard said in the frustrating voice. He continued, “No one can be positive forever. It is not natural. I have tried and tried but at some point I get crazily upset. How do you do it? How can you be positive at all times? Almond smiles at Gerard and said, “Positivity is not to be forced. It is a natural way of expressing one’s desire to be on top of any situation”. Unable to comprehend what Almond said, Gerard kept looking at his face thinking about the crazy words he is speaking.

Almond after a pause said, “Every morning, when I wake up. I open my eyes and say to myself, Almond; you have two choices today to spend your day. Do you want to be in a good and happy mood today or would you like to b e in a sad and unhappy state for rest of the day. At that point I choose the first option, to be happy and cheerful and exhilarated state”.

Almond continued, “When I feel the situation is bad and something terrible has happened, my inner self asks me again, Almond would you like to be a victim of the situation or would you like to learn from it. I choose to learn from the situation”

Pausing for a moment, with a smile on his face, Almond said, “If someone comes complaining to me, my inner self again gives me two choices, would you like to accept the individual’s complain and would you like to point out the positive side of it. I choose the latter”.

But Gerard was in such a grumpy and frustrated mood that he exclaimed in anger, “Yeah, right, it’s all good to say and listen but it’s not that easy as it sounds”.

Almond immediately said, “Yes it is my friend”. Gerard kept quiet to know more.

Almond continued, “Gerard, life is a choice”. Differentiating between Inbox and Spam of an email, Almond said, “When a person is able to scrap all the noise from the sound, every situation transforms into choice. It is you who has to choose how to react in any given situation. Don’t think about results, think about the situation. It’s you who choose how people are going to affect your mood and feelings. It’s you who chooses to be in the good or bad mood. At the end, it is your and only your choice that decide your state of mind, it is your choice how you choose to live your life.

Gerard kept mum and left the office for that day and never returned back to office. Gerard opened his own small firm and started his new venture. For a long time Almond and Gerard did not meet. But Gerard often thought about Almond when he made choices about life instead of becoming a victim and reacting to it.

After a long period of time, Gerard heard from somewhere that Almond did an unthinkable, that he should have never done. Almond by that time became the Store Manager of a very good food chain. Almond forgot to secure the back door of the restaurant and was held on gun point by robbers.

Robbers forced him to reveal the security combination of the safe in which the whole month’s money was safely kept. Shaking with nervousness, the combination slipped from his mind and he was shot on the spot by the robbers who panicked before fleeing the scene. Fortunately, paramedics reached at the scene very quickly and he was rushed to the trauma centre. Almond was operated upon for a full complete day. His surgery went for 22 hours. Almond was shifted in the ICU and was discharged from the hospital after few weeks while the fragments of the bullets still remained in his body.

A year after the incident, Gerard found where Almond was and went to meet him to enquire about his health. Gerard upon meeting Almond asked, “How are you Almond” to which Almond replied, “If I were any better, I would be twins”.

Gerard mustered some courage to ask Almond about how he felt and what had gone through his mind as that incident happened.

Almond said, “At first, I was thinking, I should have secured the back door. Shouldn’t have left it open. Then when I was shot and I was lying down on the floor, my inner self cried out to me and asked me that Almond you still have two choices as usual. Would you choose to live or would you choose to die. As always, I chose to live”.

Gerard anxiously asked, “Almond were you not scared at all? Were you unconscious?”

Almond replied back saying, “The paramedics were brilliant. They came very quickly. They were continuously speaking to me and telling me that I was going to be fine. But at the time when I was transferred to the operating table in the trauma centre, I saw the real expressions on the faces of the doctors and nurses. At that time I got really scared. I could very easily see in their eyes that I might not survive that I will die for sure. I knew I had to act swiftly and take corrective action”.

Gerard in excitement asked, “Almond, so what did you do? Tell me Almond, what did you actually do?”

Almond said, “Well, standing just near to my head, a very big nurse who was shouting questions at me, she suddenly asked if I am allergic to anything. Yes, I relied quickly and paused. The doctors and nurses waited for my reply…at that time I took deep breath remember my inner self and belief and yelled BULLETS. All doctors and Nurses actually laughed. Over their laughter, I told them, “I have chosen to live. Please operate me as if I am alive, not dead”. Gerard had tears in his eyes and couldn’t utter any words. He realized and understood that positive attitude does wonders not only in professional life but also at every moment of personal life too.

Almond lived, of course because of the magnificent skills of the doctors, but also due to his amazingly positive attitude towards life. This story is a very tiny attempt to guide you to understand and learn from Almond that every moment we have choices to live fully. Attitude after all is everything and positive attitude is the choice that always remains within you.

Materialistic and Spiritual Self…A subtle division… AA, the talking wall

We all are unique individuals but bounded by materialistic ropes that we have manufactured since our birth.

We are born alone with no clothes, probably no or minimal hair, closed eyes and trying to make our little self, accustom to the new world in which we have entered.

The moment Mother’s umbrella is removed and child gets exposed to the natural light which illuminates this world, a shock-like phenomenon occur in the self-absorbing mind of a child. The pain and fear of direct exposure to this light seems quite a lot for the child to bear and the cry to get back the umbrella starts the child’s journey into the mystical world of BRAHM.

Slowly and gradually the need of the umbrella dies down as new ways are shown to the child. They feel safe again and first smile shows the sign of child’s acceptance to the new world. The self-absorbing vault-like mind starts accumulating consciously unconscious thoughts, visions, images etc., deep inside. Simultaneously, the child encounters the savings inside the vault and tries to use it every moment to satisfy the arousal of query that invades the calm, soft and tender mind of the child. The invasion seems alien to the child as it has originated from the man-made boundaries of relationships, concrete walls, cosy bed and difference between safe, unsafe, inside and outside environment.

Elders starts educating the child as the age increases but child starts learning the moment this world envelopes the new soul and provides a separate mechanism for it to grow further. During the elderly teaching, child encounters hurdles of its own. While playing on the concrete or wooden or tiled floor, while trying to give shape to the scattered plastic blocks, while eating by mother’s hand or drinking water from a saucer plate or cup on the table, child’s mind questions each actions and vault throws answers to help resolve the query.

This process keeps getting matured and consciously known to the child as it starts crawling instead of sitting, tries to stand up but do not know what to do next. Child’s mind provokes the conscious to move the leg and it does without thinking. It seems like, the child is in control of some unknown force and the child falls down questioning the provoked thought, crying for the umbrella that once was over it.

The child always remembers the umbrella but is not attached to it as it was once, due to many other external and internal activities that has taken place since its introduction to this seemingly magical world of attractive surroundings. Still, it remembers and crave for it but crying seems the only way out as the mind assures the child that someone will address the present need of yours after the loud cry is heard.

Such emotions and cleverness yet unconscious and externally unprovoked. A defence mechanism or tool to find a shoulder? Who may know this?

Little by little, day by day, child starts walking without questioning the provocation of thought to take the next step forward and slowly, gradually, learns to listen to its inner voice. The voice that always shows the way forward. During this extraordinary and divine experience yet still very unconscious, helps the child to grow further as age progress.

Child grows and learns to speak instead of making crackling noises. The same vault and provoking thought assist the child to tone down the shrillness of the sound and roll of the tongue and use of the air within to pronounce a word; MAA-MAA.

I believe, every child in this world, irrespective of any geographical language barrier would have spoken this sound. It is very pleasant and every mother associates the sound to the name that they carry after the birth of their child, MAA.

Child seems to enjoy this sound, as every time the sound comes of out their small and limited opened mouth, someone special pays conscious attention towards them. Now, the cry has transformed into the sound of MAA. It is really an astonishing achievement for the child. It plays in the mind again and again and again. Isn’t it the innocence at its best?

Child fails many times during the learning phase but the attempts made are countless as the mind is young and focused on its own growth. It listens, it sees, it feels. Combination of so many factors starts building the daily itinerary along with personal library that child will have access to at all times during their lifespan. This process of making the mind accustomed to the surrounding provides an inner peace and satisfaction but moreover, it invites further queries and pushes the mind to find further resolutions to the risen queries.

This self developed, natural, divine methodology has allowed us to think, to judge, to act, to believe, to accept, to reject, to do, to undo the unlimited micro second actions that we continue exhibiting to the outer world. Is this the way mind evolves? It first, arouses the consciousness to the event and then open the channels for the mind to start its functioning of reasoning towards the events.

Are we growing in this way or it’s the other way around? Are we reading available materials to learn or do they exist ONLY for reference purposes?

Will this mind function the same way, if we allow it to reason with thoughts arising outside from within the other individuals or will it be same, if the reasoning is done with the thoughts, queries arising within ourselves?

The need to extract information is never ending but is it wise to sprint behind knowledge without analysing the information available within?

Do we already have the knowledge that is required by us from time-to-time or is it just a myth? Are we already realised or there is no such realisation?

There are billions of unsatisfied, unanswered, non-reasoned thoughts that exist in the child-like vast mind of every individual but I guess, it still wants to reason with the inner voice first. Do you want to give your child-like mind, the opportunity to once again start reasoning with the inner self rather than devoting the vast capacity of the mind to involve in outside world?

At the end, we know who actually taught us to speak, we know who actually taught us to walk, and we know who actually helped us grow.

The answer is always with YOU. The reason lies deep within, waiting to surface just one more time….

Do we know out True Self or we are just two-faced materialistically created surrogates – AA, the talking wall

We are the manifestation of Lord.

We all make choices and do things the way we think its right and at the same time we believe that whatever we are choosing is the best according to our present standard and nothing else could be better.

We have been groomed according to what our parents have witnessed in their childhood and the experience that they have gained since they have started experiencing this beautiful creation of Lord i.e. our beloved world.

Now, when we were growing up, we were told certain ways according to which we should publicly behave and interact. Following and doing this for so long, it has become an integral part of our central living system. In simple terms, the etiquette as we properly call it in human language, has completely over powered our unique system which was trying to evolve and come out in open since we were born until we started learning the society ways of exhibiting oneself.

This particular teaching through our parents and teachers in school, colleges have made us kind of a two-faced individuals. Two faced-individual is a simple stage where we make choices based on waiting mechanism of mind rather spontaneous activity that mind always tends to get involved into.

Every parent tries to protect his/her child from worldly negativity that could harm their child’s physical or intellectual growth. To make sure that in their absence nothing wrong happens to their child and their child is loved, accepted and treated properly by this society, they deliberately teach us the worldly ways of analyzing the situation and coming up with a solution that best protect them from any harm.

We think differently and act according to the surrounding. Our actions do not justify our thoughts. The drastic effect of this way of living has slowly and gradually buried our true nature somewhere deep within ourselves which is far away from our unconscious reach.

We have now come to a point where we most of the times do not actually understanding and know exactly why we made a particular decision or why we acted/reacted in a particular manner in a given situation. We tend to think and reflect back upon our actions and choices and most of the time regret the choices that we made in past which are impossible to change now.

Sometimes, we tend to think that we were too emotional at the time of the choice or we were too stubborn to have changed our decision at that point and later in present, we are amazed at ourselves that how is it possible that “I” reacted in this way. Mind tends to throw all kinds of light for us to come to a conclusion that could justify our choices or actions but most of the times, we make time as our closest friend and wait for it to heal the past.

Have we ever given it a thought that why we repent or regret our past decisions even when we are the ones making those decisions with full consciousness and understanding of the surrounding.

Is it because of making the best utilizing the available scarce resources at our disposal or is it due to the two faced self that has been created by ourselves with the help of our elders since we first got introduced to the outer world i.e. other fellow living beings apart from us, individuals.

In college, my economics class-mates always talked about theories of making best utilization of available resources to come up with the best possible decision that can be made at the given time and I always used to think that if every individual is unique and has his or her own style of thinking, no matter how similar situation it is, the decisions will always differ from each other at any given time.

So, when we all are making best possible use of available resources then how come, choices and the outcomes of decisions taken by different people are different from each other, sometimes, completely in opposite directions. Is it because I was too naïve to understand the phenomenon of choice or is it something that we as individuals are unable to see within or about ourselves.

Now at this point, I personally believe that it’s our own concept and understanding of available resources which are dependent on circumstances or individual perception that determines the choices that a person is going to make. But there is a gap in our immediate thought and the thought at the time of actually making a choice.

This gap is the result of our two separate identities that we have created. One is the outspoken Identity that is unique and divine. It carries all the attributes of our true self, our true personality that we might have been carrying since many births. Second, is the materialistic self that we have developed, designed and maintained based on this society inside which we live and tend to act.

Our true self holds the answers to all the questions that are visible in this world but due to our second self, all these answers are shielded and are never explored by us.

To know this phenomenon, I tried thinking consciously on the instinctive thought that flashes for micro-second in my mind at the time when I have even barely looked at a situation. In case, I am unable to hold onto that particular flash, I get ideas pouring from all parts of the world I have been and people I have met in my entire life during which the only thing I can remember is the question with no immediate answer.

We tend to give a thought to any situation and then start from the square one, where we start analyzing and utilizing the available resources to come up with the best option we possibly can but no matter what, that divine answer to the question remains unseen, unheard or unexplored.

Only if we are able to start consciously working towards identifying that flash regularly and make an effort to catch it, we will be opening doors that will lead us to our real, true self. A self that was once visible and loved by all. A self which was expressing itself when we were born.

Do we think parent’s effort to shield their children from worldly issues are making a child loose its uniqueness in terms of his/her existence and go far away from the inner child? Have we lost the divine touch with our inner child?

Don’t you think that we may never be able to understand ourselves, our true existence until we find that lost child again?

There are endless list of questions that starts finding their ways in words when we actually meditate on this particular thought. At the end the choice remains with us, only this time, it’s not about pleasing others or solving a problem, it’s about finding Us, our true Us.
